Player Summary:
5th YR GR and 1 yr full-time starter at TE where he plays as an H lining up mainly inline and in the slot in the gap/zone blocking scheme of UTST. He possesses ordinary height with marginal weight and below-average speed with an athletic build. He is an average athlete with good balance, solid explosiveness, sufficient lateral quickness and agility with average COD, adequate acceleration and ordinary play speed. He is a good run blocker. He shows sufficient lateral quickness and agility when pulling through the hole or to the perimeter. He displays solid UOH in his punch, placement and timing and generates movement at the POA with good physical toughness, solid play strength and foot drive as he seals off LB with average size. In pass pro, he is above-average as he keeps his feet moving and anchors against EDGE with ordinary AA with his good grip strength and solid UOH. In the passing game, he shows average quickness off the LOS with sufficient FBI as he finds the soft spot in zone coverage. He exhibits average hip fluidity as he breaks off his stem. He shows sufficient hands as he possesses the manual dexterity needed to possess a catch radius that allows him to catch the ball with his hands near his frame. After the catch is made, he displays good contact balance and power as he breaks tackles from LB with ordinary form tackling ability as he fights for extra yardage. Solid mental toughness enables him to elevate his play as a run blocker in the redzone. He exhibits ordinary play speed which prevents him from gaining significant YAC consistently. Lack of quality AA prevents him from separating in man coverage against DB/LB with good play speed. He is below-average in contested catch situations due to him struggling to use his body to box out LB/DB with good size and ball skills.
Scheme Fit:
YTE
Power Statement:
Tough player who excels at blocking both in pass pro and in the run game. He shows good contact balance after the catch is made. Lack of quality AA and play speed prevents him from gaining significant YAC consistently and separating in man coverage against LB/DB with good play speed.
