Is Brandon Aubrey the best kicker in the NFL right now?
I drafted Justin Tucker in my fantasy draft because I thought it would be a safe pick. I was excited because Tucker had been automatic in his career, but this year the Ravens kicker has struggled.
There seems to be a new kicker in the NFL who has been pretty damn impressive. He is on the Cowboys!
Today, Dallas kicker Brandon Aubrey converted a 65-yard field goal in the first quarter, surpassing Matt Prater (64-yard field goal on Dec. 8, 2013) for the second-longest made field goal in NFL history. Only Justin Tucker (66-yard field goal on Sept. 26, 2021) has a longer made field goal.
Aubrey, who converted a 60-yard field goal on Dec. 10, 2023, is the eighth kicker in NFL history with multiple made field goals of at least 60 yards, joining Brett Maher (four made field goals of at least 60 yards), Matt Prater (three), Greg Zuerlein (three), Harrison Butker (two), Jake Elliott (two), Sebastian Janikowski (two) and Justin Tucker (two).
Aubrey has become one of the best kickers in the NFL, and his resume is insane.
In 2017, Toronto FC drafted him in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft. As a rookie, he was part of the club’s first MLS Cup title.
After two seasons with two organizations, Aubrey became a free agent. He returned to the Dallas area, lived with his wife in Colleyville — they were doing long distance — and began work at GM Financial for better compensation than soccer offered.
He went to the USFL and was signed by the Cowboys. The rest is history! This kid has a monster leg and I think in the coming games the Cowboys will allow him to hit a 70 plus yarder and he will become the record holder! He has a huge leg!
