Player Summary:

RS SR and 2 yr full-time starter at DS where he aligns primarily at FS as well as in the box in the 4-2-5 and 3-3-5 Nickel defense of WYUN. He possesses marginal height with solid weight and good speed with an athletic build. He is an above-average athlete showing a combination of good explosiveness with solid COD, balance, acceleration, lateral quickness and agility with above-average top end play speed. He is above-average against the pass. In man coverage, he shows quick feet in his backpedal while reading the hips of slot WR/TE with ordinary COD and play speed as he effectively defends the underneath routes. He displays sufficient awareness in zone as he reads the QB while defending his half or third of the field in cover 2 and cover 3 respectively. He reacts quickly to the ball being thrown to his zone and quickly makes the tackle on WR with average contact balance. He displays good ball skills as he locates the ball in the air and times his hands well as he disrupts the trajectory of the ball for a PBU and shows above-average hands as he makes the INT. He is a solid blitzer rushing up the middle or from the outside as he quickly penetrates the LOS and forces the QB to pass the ball earlier than anticipated. He is sufficient against the run as he exhibits decent FBI as he reads run/pass. He displays solid range and instincts taking good angles in pursuit. He shows sufficient form and good explosiveness as he makes the tackle on RB with ordinary size and AA. Above-average mental toughness enables him to elevate his game on 3rd down. Subpar play strength prevents him from quickly disengaging from run blocks by WR with good UOH and grip strength. Ordinary form tackling ability prevents him from consistently making the tackle on RB with good size and AA.
