Player Summary:

RS SR and 2 yr full-time starter at DS where he aligns at both SS and FS in the 2-4-5, 3-3-5, and 4-2-5 Nickel heavy defense of KSUN with heavy man coverage. He transferred from INPU in ‘22. He possesses elite height with sufficient weight and solid speed with a muscular build. He is a solid athlete showing a combination of solid COD, balance, acceleration, explosiveness, lateral quickness and agility with sufficient top end play speed. He is good against the run. He displays above-average FBI to quickly read run/pass and displays good instincts and range playing SL to SL as he takes the correct angle in pursuit on outside runs. On inside runs, he quickly locates the RB and displays good closing speed as he comes down. He plays with a good pad level and explodes through the hip and exhibits good physical toughness as he makes the tackle on RB with average contact balance. Solid play speed enables him to catch RB with ordinary AA from behind and make the tackle. He is sufficient against the pass. In man coverage, he takes quick, choppy steps as he backpedals as he reads the hips of slot WR with ordinary play speed and defends the underneath routes. In zone, he uses his solid AA while reading the QB as he defends his half of the field in cover 2 or third in cover 3. If the ball is caught in his zone, he reacts quickly and displays good form tackling ability as he prevents a big gain. Solid mental toughness allows him to play well in big games. Marginal ball skills prevent him from timing his hands accurately as he attempts to make a play on the ball. Lack of quality play strength prevents him from quickly disengaging from run blocks by TE with solid length, UOH and grip strength.

Scheme Fit:

SS

Power Statement:

Explosive, physical player who is good against the run due to his solid AA, instincts, and range and is sufficient overall against the pass. Subpar ball skills prevent him from consistently making plays on the ball.
