Player Summary:
Shuler played two-seasons at Coffeyville Community College (20’-21’) before transferring to USF in 2022. Displays the ability to adjust to a change with the coaching staff. LB with solid muscular structure/build & has the room to add more muscle. Long arms to help with range and ball contact. Plays tall with a wide stance and a slight knee bend. Good body strength against opponents of similar build and bigger. Has the ability to stay up against larger opponents. Avg speed for position and displays the ability to explode out of stance. Patient at the LOS. Explosive off of the edge in the pass rush game. In run defense, utilizes good vision, intuition and is quick reading the field to get in position. Exceptional at identifying run plays. Solid hand strength against bigger lineman giving up big plays. Can fill gaps and shows a willingness to take on multiple blockers at the point of attack. Uses average speed and power to explode on contact and drive ball carriers to the ground. Shuler has average athleticism and quickness to run downfield. Above avg wrap up tackler at the waist. Solid lateral movements and average agility when covering large areas. Good directional changes and space awareness. While in coverage, Shuler exhibits loose hips to take good angles while opening and closing space. Shuler can improve skills during man coverage especially against bigger and faster opponents. Fits into a 4-3, 3-4 defense. Can play middle LB while in Cover 2. Effective in coverage pursuit. Has the strength and ability to accelerate during run for blitz pickup. Good football IQ when transitioning to zone coverage. Exceptional mental toughness during game changing plays. Due to limited playing opportunities throughout college career, Shuler has not shown full production at the FBS level.
