Virginia High School Football Player Collapsed and Died on the Football Field during Practice
Jayvion Taylor a junior varsity football player at Hopewell High School in Virginia passed away. Taylor was just 15-years-old.
The Hopewell, Virginia community is mourning the death of Taylor this morning. Taylor was reportedly in in the middle of practice getting a water break when he collapsed on the field. Two coaches attempted CPR before paramedics arrived.
Paramedics rushed Taylor to the hospital, but he did not survive.
The school reportedly does not have an athletic trainer, according to WSAZ News. The school has a job posting on their site, but have not hired their trainer. This is a bad look for the school.
There is a change.org page that was created sharing many of the details of the incident. The school’s air conditioning was broken on the day of Jayvion’s incident, and an AED was in the building but not utilized.
