Player Summary:
Will be a 5th YR SR going into 2024 with 2 GS in 42 GP. In 2023, he primarily played in a 3-4 scheme with hybrid concepts. He has very good height and solid weight with a thick, athletic build, and appears to have good arm length and wingspan. He has good overall athletic ability, with very good quickness and top end speed for his size; good lateral speed, agility, and leaping ability with solid COD. Good overall pass rusher as he displays solid burst off the ball to get upfield; good hand fighting, swim moves, arm swiping, and shoulder dipping techniques, and solid ability to get his hands inside and control less technical pass blockers. Adequate flexibility and bend when rounding the corner and moving into closing on the QB, and displays marginal counter-move ability when working in his pass rush or stunting inside. Shows the strength and explosiveness to bull rush 300-plus pound OL to collapse the pocket and pressure the QB. Has very good overall awareness when working his pass rush and keeps eyes in the backfield to know when the QB attempts to move out of the pocket, but can miss the read on RPO plays on occasion. He beat 2023 4th-round pick Javon Foster from Missouri in a one-on-one matchup to earn a strip sack. Solid overall run defender with good block shedding ability, using leverage and momentum to push OL off balance, and good understanding of gap responsibility. He displays solid ability to hold his position and not be driven back by average sized OL and solid ability to set the edge and force runners to the inside; however, he does occasionally over-pursue outside running lanes. Uses his very good speed, effort and motor, and good awareness to follow and stick with the play through the whistle and be around the end of most plays. Uses very good tackling ability and good one-on-one strength to make most tackles when he is in the range of the ball carrier and limit extra yardage, and solid toughness to make stops in short yardage situations. He does not drop into coverage often, but when he does he understands his zone assignment and has adequate coverage skills to be near route runners on shorter routes, but he occasionally turns his head away from the QB instead of using his peripherals to find his assigned route runner.
Scheme Fit:
3-4 EDGE/OLB
Power Statement:
Bradyn is a good overall pass rusher who uses his good athletic ability for finesse moves, and good strength for bull-rushes. If he can improve his bending around the corner and learn effective counter-moves, he will become a very good pass rusher. Bradyn is a solid run defender who can improve with work on his technique and play recognition. He shows potential to be developed into a rotational pass rusher at the NFL level.
