2025 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Reggie Brown, WR, James Madison

Reggie Brown

VAJM – WR

SCCC (2023), VAOD (2023), GASO (2023)

Senior.  Starts primarily as an outside receiver but has played both spots.  Marginal route runner with good size and arm length, above-average hands, good speed, above-average as a blocker.  As a route runner, he is marginal.  More of a possession WO; not very dynamic after the catch.  Can get good separation in a short area on quick routes to the SL.  Good deep threat over the MOF, where he can get open, create separation and score.  Is a good target around the goal line with decent leaping ability.  Is slow out of his breaks on comeback routes/curls, needs to be more explosive and work back to the ball.  Has above average hands and can be very streaky.  Had a few drops in the games viewed that he should’ve easily made but also shows he can hang onto the ball and take tough hits.  Can win contested catches.  Needs to work on tucking the ball away and securing after the catch. Could get his feet down and exhibit better body control and really work on going up and high-pointing the ball.   Long frame with room to add bulk.  Above-average blocker who can properly place his hands, bend, and drive defenders to create running lanes on the perimeter. Highly productive – one of two receivers on the team last year with over 1,000 yards.  New staff may affect performance in 2024.

Power Statement: Brown is a marginal route runner but good blocker with decent hands, ability to get separation downfield.  He has good straight-line speed.  I would like to see him improve as a route runner.
