2025 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Power Echols, LB, North Carolina

  • Name: Power Echols
  • Position, School: Linebacker, North Carolina
  • Games Watched: Duke, Miami, SC

Senior.  Starter at ILB.  Undersized but quick LB prospect.  Below-average run defender, above average in pass coverage, average pass rusher.  As a run defender he is below average.  Key issue is inability to shed blocks – can get overpowered and driven off the ball.  Struggles to replace and rework his hands.  Really needs to improve on getting off blocks.  More of a wrap-up tackler, no thump.  Missed a few easy tackles in the games viewed.  Has good closing speed and pursuit to the flat, and above-average instincts.  Has a high motor – good finisher, chases down ballcarriers and works to the whistle.  Has some twitch.  Has moments where he does a lot of things right – will stick his nose in a pile at the LOS, stay parallel and wrap up.

As a pass rusher he is average.  Flashed some good speed to shoot through gaps and takes good angles to the backfield.  Isn’t used as much in this area.  In coverage he is good.  Can cover and carry short/intermediate routes.  Didn’t show any ball skills in the games viewed but his cover skills are strong.  Key issue is size.  See if he develops as a senior.
