Creator of the New York Jets logo is suing the team after they unveiled their redesigned uniforms

The creator of the New York Jets logo is suing the team after the Jets unveiled their redesigned uniforms.
The redesigned uniforms display the logo created by Jim Pons in 1978, so he is suing the team. The wild thing is the Jets even recognized Pons during the release.
Pons wants to be paid for using his design, which features a capital “J” in Jets. It also hints at an airplane design.
The Jets attorneys are trying to strong arm the man.
“The mark in question has been registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for nearly 50 years. The mark has been used continuously in numerous iterations since that time. We find this claim baseless and without merit.”
The Jets are now using it on a full-time basis and Pons wants some money for them using his design.
