Marquette King should be getting calls from the NFL | Will someone call the UFL league leader?
Marquette King finished first in the UFL in Net Punt and Punt Average. He was named to the UFL All-American Team, and is 35-years-old, but let’s face it, punters can play for many years.
King is in great shape and can still hit a football. He posted earlier this month that he is still hoping to get a call from an NFL team. King has been a fun player in the United Football League and he deserves another shot. The problem is people will say he is too much of a drama queen, or does stupid stuff getting penalties, but he has 3 career penalties. He danced after pinning a player deep in his own territory.
As a former specialist myself, I love that. Shoot that is like putting a pass in a perfect spot as a quarterback, or running a player over as a running back.
You can’t sit here and tell me Marquette King wasn’t THAT DUDE in the NFL.
- 446 punts
- 163 punts IN20
- Led NFL in Y/P in 2014
- Led NFL in Punts in 2015
- Led NFL in Punt Yards in 2015
His career punt average of 46.7 yards. The Pro Bowler in 2022 Tress Way averaged that same number two years ago.
In the UFL, Marquette’s punt average was 48.4 which was higher than his career punt average in the NFL at the age of 35. King would have been 13th in the NFL this year in punt average. He can still punt a ball, and deserves a shot. I hope someone gives him a shot.
