Joe Burrow is one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL, but he has suffered several injuries that knock him out for the season.

The franchise quarterback is a beast when on the field, but Colin Cowherd feels the Bengals need to be in the market for his future replacement now.

“I do think one more injury and the Bengals have to draft another quarterback near the first, second, third round,” Cowherd said. “I said this today about Michael Penix: Last year, the Falcons had no good quarterbacks and couldn’t win a bad division. This year, they’ll have the two best quarterbacks, and you’re complaining about it?

“We’re getting to a point with Burrow where it’s a real discussion. You have to have at least a B-backup. I think Burrow is going to have to own it.”

Maybe Cowherd is overreacting a bit, but Burrow had missed some time. In 2020 he suffered a torn ACL, and then last year he suffered a torn ligament in his right wrist.

Those injuries are huge blows for the Bengals because his back-up is not the best. I understand why Cowherd is saying that, because if he goes down, they need to have a player who can carry them and get them a win. When Joe Burrow is healthy, he is up there with Mahomes and Josh Allen as the best in the game.
