The man responsible for shooting both an Auburn football player and killing his brother turned himself in to the police.
Darryl Brookins has turned himself into Sarasota County deputies.
Brookins was wanted in connection with a shooting that happened Saturday at the Tallywood Centre in the 3400 block of 17th Street.
That shooting claimed the life of Tommie Battie IV. Tommie’s brother, Brian, who plays for Auburn football was also shot.
Brian is currently on a ventilator, fighting for his life. Four other victims, including Brian, were transported to the hospital.
Investigators haven’t released a motive, but Brookins has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and as a felon in possession of a firearm.
He will be booked into the Sarasota County Correctional Facility.
