Former Minnesota Gophers football player fighting for an MMA Championship

Bailey Schoenfelder a former standout linebacker for the Minnesota Gophers has his eyes now set on a different championship than football.
The star football player and state champion wrestler is rising in the ranks of MMA.
Schoenfelder was a preferred walk-on back in 2016 and is most known for landing a surprise scholarship from head coach P.J. Fleck. It was awesome too, because Fleck had a U.S. marine parachute onto the field at the football stadium to surprise him with a scholarship offer.
Schoenfelder is the challenger and trying to claim the title from Greg “The Viking King” Velasco (6-1).
He is currently 4-0 as a fighter and will battle for the heavyweight championship on Friday at the Cage Fury Fighting Championships in New Jersey.
