With the dust settling on Super Bowl LVIII, football fans and bettors alike are already eyeing the prospects for the next NFL season. While perennial favourites like the 49ers, Chiefs, Bills, and Ravens remain at the forefront of discussions, seasoned bettors know the allure of long-shot bets that could yield significant returns.

Let’s delve into the top futures NFL fans should consider for the 2024-25 season, according to the recommended sportsbooks at BettingTop10.ca

1. Detroit Lions (+1200) to Win Super Bowl LIX

The Detroit Lions, despite falling short this past season, displayed flashes of promise, showcasing a formidable offensive unit complemented by a resilient defence. Although their pass defence remains a concern, their dominance in rush defenceunderscores their potential to fortify their roster and emerge as genuine contenders in the upcoming season.

Finishing seventh in total DVOA during the 2023-24 regular season, the Lions boasted a balanced offensive prowess, ranking fifth in offensive DVOA while maintaining a respectable 13th position in defensive DVOA. With big-name acquisitions like cornerback Carlton Davis III, linebacker Marcus Davenport, and defensive lineman DJ Reader this past offseason, the Lions have positioned themselves as formidable adversaries for the title in 2025.

With the return of highly touted offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, the Lions are primed to capitalize on their strengths, making them an enticing prospect for the upcoming season.

2. Houston Texans (+1400) to Win Super Bowl LIX

Under the stewardship of DeMeco Ryans and fueled by the meteoric rise of C.J. Stroud, the Houston Texans have emerged as a force to be reckoned with in the AFC. Going into this offseason, the Texans already had a potent offence headlined by Stroud, Tank Dell and Nico Collins, and that was before they spent any money. Then, they went and signed Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon and recently traded for Stefon Diggs, one of the NFL’s top receivers.

Armed with one of the best offences in the league and a young and talented defence with key additions like Danielle Hunter, Mario Edwards, and CJ Henderson, the Texans are poised to build upon their impressive campaign and stake their claim as contenders for the Lombardi Trophy.

Stroud’s rapid ascension, complemented by a burgeoning receiving corps of Diggs, Dell, and Collins, and a formidable defensive unit, underscores the Texans’ potential to disrupt the status quo and emerge as dark horse contenders in the AFC.

3. Green Bay Packers (+2000) to Win Super Bowl LIX

In the competitive landscape of the NFC, the Green Bay Packers emerged as a compelling choice, buoyed by the rapid ascension of Jordan Love and a cadre of young talents set for further development. Despite facing scrutiny over the selection of Love, the Packers’ astute roster management and strategic acquisitions have helped them become legitimate contenders in the NFC for years to come.

With Love showcasing his potential as a franchise quarterback, surrounded by a talented supporting cast that consists of Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, and the recently acquired All-Pro running back Josh Jacobs, the Packers possess the requisite firepower to mount a serious challenge for the Super Bowl title.

While they still have to get by the Lions for the NFC North throne, along with the pesky Chicago Bears, betting on the Packers to win Super Bowl LIX is a sneaky pick this early on.

4. Los Angeles Rams (+3000) to Win Super Bowl LIX

The Los Angeles Rams, propelled by a blend of seasoned veterans and emerging talents, represent a compelling proposition for astute bettors eyeing long-shot bets. Sure, you’re never going to be able to replace the one and only Aaron Donald, who has officially retired from the NFL, but so long as you have Matthew Stafford and Sean McVay, you’ve got a shot.

Despite facing adversity going into last season, the Rams demonstrated resilience and tenacity, pushing themselves to a surprising 10-7 record and playoff birth, which few expected. It’s worth noting that they were also just one point away from beating the Lions in the playoffs, who ended up competing in the NFC Championship game versus the 49ers.

In 2025, they’ll have a fully healthy Cooper Kupp, whose connection with Stafford is second to none, along with stud second-year players RB Kyren Williams and WR Puka Nakua, the latter of which just set the NFL record for most receiving yards in a season by a rookie (1,486).

5. Atlanta Falcons (+3000) to Win Super Bowl LIX

Heading into the offseason, the Atlanta Falcons embarked on a strategic overhaul aimed at bolstering their roster and positioning themselves as frontrunners in the NFC South, which always seems up for grabs.

With the acquisition of Kirk Cousins and a slew of promising additions, including receivers Darnell Mooney, Rondale Moore, and Zac Robinson as offensive coordinator, the Falcons have fortified their offensive arsenal and set their sights on divisional supremacy.

Backed by a potent offence and a rejuvenated defense, the Falcons represent a formidable force in the NFC, particularly in one of the weaker divisions in the National Football League. If Cousins can stay healthy and develop solid rapport with Bijan Robinson, Drake London, Kyle Pitts and his new set of receivers, the sky’s the limit for this young Falcons squad.
