Six Biggest Losers of Day One of the NFL Scouting Combine

Day One of workouts is in the books and we have had some players who did not perform very well in the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine.
I wanted to break down six players who struggled in Indianapolis after the first day of the NFL Scouting Combine.
- Maema Njongmeta, LB, Wisconsin – Njongmeta is one of the better football players in the draft because the angles he takes. Maema did not run very well though, he finished with a 4.91 forty yard dash, it was not pretty.
- Austin Booker, DE, Kansas – He was pretty light weighing 240 pounds, I thought he would come in bigger, and then he ran a 4.8 forty which is concerning. He is a great edge rusher but he is not a very good tester.
- Johnny Newton, DL, Illinois – I know it is not fair to put him on this list, but several defensive lineman did a great job and potentially jumped him. Newton is hoping to land in the first round, and with players like Byron Murphy II, and Braden Fiske tearing it up, could Newton slip out the first round because he did not perform due to an injury?
- Caleb Williams, QB, USC – Caleb Williams showed up to the Combine and is refusing Medicals? What the hell is that? If I was GM I would be super turned off by this. What is he hiding? I am not very fond of this.
- Linebackers not testing – There were five linebackers who did not test at all. That is super concerning. Guys like Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Junior Colson, Jaylan Ford, Ty’Ron Hopper and Liam Eichenberg. I know some guys are banged up, but why are they not testing?
- Patrick Mahomes, Super Bowl Winning Quarterback – I mean they kept showing a 366 pound defensive tackle outrun the Chiefs starting quarterback. It was bad, and made him look bad. He even had some fun asking for the Combine folks to not show it anymore, but it was too late.
