Player Summary:
Taurrian “Teedo” Stafford is a sixth-year IOL who started 12 games at Left Guard for New Mexico in 2023. Played five years at Alabama State where he played extensive snaps at all three interior offensive line spots. Saw 330 snaps at Center, 100 snaps at Left Guard, and 200 snaps at Right Guard in 30 games with the Hornets. Possesses solid height/weight measurements with a wide frame and a substantial lower half. Attacks angles with proficient initial quickness when down-blocking on zone run concepts. Exhibits strong UOH and consistent punch location at the POA. Offers competitive play strength to drive & displace defenders out of position to open up vertical running lanes in the interior. Adequate short-range quickness and foot speed to pull across the LOS on gap scheme run plays. Works up to the second level with decent functional mobility and sustains blocks downfield with strong hands and a sufficient motor. Sets a nasty tone in the run game and flashes an aggressive mean streak to finish blocks with authority. Also provides aggressive cut block ability to get IDL off their feet at the snap. His powerful lower half, quality knee/ankle flexibility, and sturdy contact balance allow him to anchor & bridge against the bull rush. Operates with requisite bend & COG in his pass set and displays marginal lateral agility to stay square to the LOS. Works with active eyes to diagnose and adjust to twists. Has a tendency to widen his feet outside of his base, which causes him to lean and lose leverage in one-on-one pass-rush situations. Presents valuable experience and position versatility lining up at the three IOL spots, which will make him more serviceable at the next level.
Scheme Fit:
LG in a zone-run blocking scheme
Power Statement:
Stafford provides great UOH, accurate punch location, and formidable play strength to press & redirect defenders in the pass and run games. He has moderate lateral mobility to mirror pass rushers in his pass set and ample functional mobility to work up to the second level & move in open space.
