Should the Juveniles involved in the Super Bowl Parade Mass Shooting be charged as ADULTS?

I am not sure what to think anymore when it comes to mass shootings and our country. We have had 48 mass shootings this year, and I am sick and tired of them happening.

The Super Bowl parade was supposed to be a celebration for the Chiefs fans, not a damn massacre. I watched a video this morning and watched little kids running for their lives, and limping. They had been shot. Others standing around thinking it was firecrackers and smiling and others just sitting there chopping it up.

I could not believe it, but I am so disappointed in our system. They are now saying the kids are juveniles.

Kansas City police officer Alayna Gonzalez told USA TODAY that officers detained three juveniles but have released one who they determined wasn’t involved. Officers are working with juvenile prosecutors to “review investigative findings and determine applicable charges,” Gonzalez said.

This is where I feel we as a society need to step up. The laws have to change. If you think it was smart to fire an automatic weapon into a crowd and hitting little kids, you need to be charged as an adult. I mean the other day a mother was charged for her son’s mass shooting and will be sentenced to prison time. While I can see that happening as well, we truly need to charge these juveniles as adults. There cannot be any lesser sentences.

The decision to try a juvenile as an adult in a mass shooting case can be a complex and controversial matter, influenced by various legal, ethical, and social factors.

If we look at the severity of the crime, over 20 people were injured and 1 mother of two was murdered in cold blood, so I think the crime does in fact prompt prosecutors to seek adult charges, because it was premeditated. If you say it wasn’t then why did, they have guns at the parade?

While juveniles are generally treated differently in the justice system due to their developmental immaturity and potential for rehabilitation, some jurisdictions have laws allowing for juveniles to be tried as adults for serious offenses, including mass shootings. The age at which this can occur varies by jurisdiction.

Prosecutors may argue that trying a juvenile as an adult sends a message of deterrence to others who might contemplate committing similar acts of violence, and I would have to agree with that take.

Ultimately, the decision to try a juvenile as an adult in a mass shooting case involves balancing considerations of justice, public safety, individual rights, and societal values, and it often depends on the specific circumstances of the case and the applicable laws in the jurisdiction.

I want to know what you think, do you think these young kids that opened fire should be charged as adults for the mass shooting?
