2024 NFL Scouting Combine will now have an NFL Specialist Showcase as well
We are learning that the NFL Scouting Combine is doing something a little different for specialists.
According to sources, the NFL will have several kickers, punters and long snappers attending an event ran by the NFL during the week of the Combine that will allow the NFL coaches to come and check out the specialists.
So far only a few specialists were invited to the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis to run and do the medical with the stars, but others are getting invites to the Specialist Showcase as well. We are still trying to find out more information to this event, like how many kicker, punters, and long snappers will be invited. This is good because it will allow the teams to send their special teams coordinators to the event to scout the players. This could help specialists out. We all want to see them kick and run a forty!
We are hearing even one of the International Pathway Program players who is trying to be a specialist has received an invite. This is going to be great for kickers. This was very similar to Gary Zauner’s Combine Camp, which has went on for years. It sounds like the NFL is trying to go around Zauner by doing this event on their own.
We are told there are five IPP specialists from England and Ireland, I am not sure if all of them will get the Specialist invite, but this would be a very good opportunity if they did.
