New Patriots scouting chief Eliot Wolf grateful for new opportunity

Eliot Wolf, a longtime personnel man for the Green Bay Packers, opened up about his new role with the New England Patriots as the director of scouting. Wolf is a widely respected evaluator in the league.

“I want to thank Robert Kraft for this tremendous opportunity,” said Wolf immediately as his press conference began in the Indiana Convention Center. It’s going to be a lot of work. We’re really excited to get going here.”

“My time in Green Bay meant everything. I learned my foundation of scouting, leadership, how to treat people, how to deal with people, really just everything in terms of the business of football. It’s prepared me for this moment to help the New England Patriots get back to where we need to go.”

The Patriots hold the third overall pick of the draft – a fact not lost on Wolf – and have the potential to land Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.

“He’s a good player, obviously, there’s a lot of strengths to his game,” Wolf said. “He can translate into any offense in the NFL. We’re going to do what’s best for the team behind the scenes and the strategy for that … is (trying) to do the right thing.”
