Dan Campbell: Combine beneficial for interviews, evaluating personality

Lions head coach Dan Campbell spoke with the media at the annual NFL Combine, unpacking the meaning of the weeklong event from the perspective of the head coaches.

“You’re going to see them work out,” Campbell said of the on-field activities that start later in the week. “You watch them to be able to just kind of get a feel for the personality, the FBI (football intelligence), the problem-solving, things of that nature. That’s the real benefit, I know, for me.”

Campbell was asked a unique question by Gio The Podcaster: as a former player, is Campbell excited to see more former NFL players get head coaching opportunities?

“I don’t know,” Campbell said. “I think there may be something to that. I think there’s something to this. There’s plenty of great coaches and players, so you can find a good coach just about anywhere. It’s just a matter of finding the right person.”
