Former NFL player is ready to rock out on ‘American Idol’
A former NFL player is headed to American Idol to try a different path to stardom.
Former Vikings undrafted free agent and the son of NFL legend Ricky Proehl, Blake will be on the next American Idol.
Blake Proehl, a former Providence High School standout, played wide receiver at East Carolina University before signing with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent after the 2021 NFL Draft.
Proehl suffered a torn ACL in training camp and was able to make the Vikings PS, but was ultimately waived in 2023.
Proehl has amassed nearly 600,000 followers on TikTok, where he posts videos of himself singing covers of emotional pop songs like “Wish You The Best” and “Someone You Loved” by Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi.
Now, Proehl is headed to American Idol is hoping to make a name for himself singing.
During his audition, Proehl sang a cover of Brett Young’s “In Case You Didn’t Know,” resulting in a very emotional response from Katy Perry.
