Former Saints draft pick Ronald Powell has passed away
Ronald Powell the former New Orleans Saints linebacker has passed away, according to multiple sources.
His former teammate Junior Galette posted on Twitter, that the 32-year-old linebacker had passed away.
“I Love You Forever till we meet again an EXCELLENT FATHER Respected Brother and a Loving Son I am saddened to shared with the rest of the world that Ronald Powell Transitioned Earlier today. REST IN POWER RONALD POWELL …..” Galette wrote.
Powell was a fifth-round choice by the Saints in the 2014 NFL Draft out of Florida. He had 11 sacks and 18.5 tackles for loss in three collegiate seasons with the Gators. Powell was a five-star recruit out of Rancho Verde High School in Moreno Valley, CA.
Powell played in 14 games as a rookie but injured his knee in the 2015 season. He would bounce around the practice squad for a few teams before eventually playing for the AAF on the Orlando Apollos.
