You know its NFL season when you see that sporty spirit and celebration all around you. In the United States, sports fans always make sure that they are prepared for the NFL season. If you are an NFL fan too, you will find yourself in front of your TV with a bucket of popcorn in no time!

Coming back to more information about the NFL, here are some important dates you need to keep in mind so that you can keep up to speed with whatever is going on in the world of the NFL. Read all the way to the end for more information. 

8th January – Club Signings

As 2024 begins, some stages of the NFL will take place as well. On January 8th, it is believed that the clubs might start signing free agent players for the season that will start in 2024. This will give the latest season a kickstart and players would be glad to know that the NFL will officially begin in January 2024. 

8th January is also the earliest permissible date for clubs to renegotiate or even extend their rookie contracts. This includes any rookie who would have joined in any round of the 2021 NFL Draft or any rookie who signed up in 2022. A renegotiated player or an extended player contract will not be considered a rookie contract. 

Clubs may also exercise fifth-year options for players who were selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. 

10th January – Freezing of the Roster

Starting 4:00 pm New York Time, Wednesday this is an important date that will be taking place after the final regular season weekend. The rosters will be frozen for all the clubs that will be participating in the postseason. However, there could be some very limited exceptions due to which the roster would not be frozen, otherwise it would still continue according to plan. 

13th to 15th of January – Wild Card Playoff Games

13th January will mark the beginning of the Wild Card Playoff games for the NFL. For anyone that isn’t aware of what the playoff games are, they are the first round of the playoffs and they are just termed Wild Card Playoffs. They may also be called the Wild Card Weekend, Wild Card Round or even Super Wild Card Weekend which was coined back in 2021. 

15th January – Special Eligibility Deadline

15th January will be the Special Eligibility Deadline. This means that college students who want to apply to play can apply before this deadline. Since they would be underclassmen, they would have to apply for Special Eligibility. The underclassmen that would be approved for entry into the 2024 NFL Draft will be sent to their respective clubs on 19th January. 

28th January – AFC and NFC Championship Games

This is the date that probably everyone would be waiting for. 28thJanuary will mark the beginning of the AFC and NFC Championship games between the clubs. We can already tell that the experience will be as exhilarating as it has always been, so be sure to mark your calendars for 28th January so that you don’t miss out on the championship games. 

4th February – Pro Bowl Games

4th February will also be an important date in the NFL schedule. That is because the Pro Bowl Games will finally begin on the 4thof February. This is another date that you need to make sure that you have marked on your calendar since it is something that you would not want to miss. 

11th February  Super Bowl LVIII

Another major update in the NFL season will drop on the 11th of February. That is because the Super Bowl LVIII will start on the 11th. If you are wondering where it will take place, this Super Bowl will be held at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. So not only can you enjoy the Super Bowl but you can also take in the amazing Las Vegas vibe. 

20th February – Player Designation

This is another important date in terms of the players that would get to play in the NFL. Starting at 4:00 pm New York time all the way to March 5th, clubs would be allowed to designate Franchise or Transition players. This would mark significant changes in the teams and would definitely make things a lot more interesting in the domain of the NFL Network.
