What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
I would say my father was my motivation to get into the game of football. He put the football in my crib as a baby.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
My favorite moments from my football life would be going undefeated/winning the state championship as a senior in high school in 2017. And winning the CAA conference championship with Villanova in 2021.
What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?
I’m looking forward to being able to put my family in a better position and to begin my journey of obtaining generational wealth using the game of football. The dream is to be able to make a living using my passion. I want to continue to build my legacy as a player so I can use my platform to impact the youth and my community.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
My mother inspires me the most. She never gets comfortable and always strives to better herself. She is the strongest person I know she is my why.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?
I would hang out with Ray Lewis so I could soak up game from him all day to help me with my career moving forward.
What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?
I’ve played in mostly 3-3-5 schemes in my college career. But If I had to choose a favorite scheme it would be a traditional 4-2-5. It allows the linebackers to be covered and play more freely. Also I love the fact the there are more opportunities for run throughs which equal tackles for loss!
What should we know about Qwahsin Townsel the person?
I am a goal oriented person, someone who doesn’t shy away from hard work. I believe anything worth having is worth working for. I am a natural leader who loves to elevate those around me.
What stands out about your film the most?
I think my closing speed on tackles stands out the most.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
I feel as though I face my challenges head on, the quicker you deal with something the quicker it’ll be over. I always say you have to go through it to get through it. God has a plan for everybody, I control what I can and leave the rest to him.
What would a team get in a player like you?
Any team that picks me up will be getting a very versatile linebacker who has made numerous plays in this box and on the perimeter. They will be getting someone who is not only willing but also excited to be an impact on all special teams. A high motor team player who loves to win and hates to lose. I have been on championship teams and teams with a losing record my love for the game doesn’t change no matter the circumstance I will come ready to work everyday.
What do you love the most about the game of football?
The thing I love the most about football is the brotherhood that comes with it and the adrenaline rush you get after that first collision of each game. It’s like the warrior in you gets instantly activated.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
Jada Byers from Virginia Union. Hands down best player I’ve ever played next to, but is underrated due to size.
