What made you decide wanted to be a football player?
My family would watch the Bears on Sundays and my dad told me stories about his playing days and this made me want to play as soon as I could and once I started I fell in love with the game.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
I think one of my favorite moments playing football happened this year when we threw a hail mary as time expired to make the game 34-35 and went for the 2 point conversion with no time on the clock and won 36-35. Another one of my favorite moments from my football life was my freshman year at Wheaton when I got to play my first snap for the Thunder against Monmouth.
What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?
I want to keep playing the game I love while competing at the highest level I am capable of. On top of that I want to win a championship.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?
This question was way harder than I thought it would be at first glance but I have to go with Jason Kelce. I chose Kelce because after seeing his documentary he seems really chill and down to earth while also having a ton of knowledge and experience playing OL.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
My father inspires me the most because he is a God fearing loving man who sets an example of what it looks like to lead a family and love my mother well.
What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?
I love a good balanced pro style offense because it offers opportunities to make plays in the air but also get after it on the ground and play physical football. This also prevents being one dimensional and a team that can run and pass well is dangerous.
What should we know about Paul Fay the person?
First the most important thing to me as a person is my faith. Beyond that I am a very intentional guy who loves spending quality time with others and goofing off.
What stands out about your film the most?
I think what stands out most in my film is my love for the physicality of football.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
When facing challenges off the field I pray and try to find the Lord’s discernment and act accordingly. When it comes to the football field I look to communicate because most challenges in my experience can be solved or at least improved through communication.
What would a team get in a player like you?
A team that gave me an opportunity would get a player who loves the game of football and brings a physical brand of football to the offensive line. They would also get a man who cares about his teammates and values team success above all.
What do you love the most about the game of football?
I think what I love most about football is that it is a competitive outlet where you get to give your all playing a violent game. On top of that you learn countless life lessons through the game that will carry on past your playing career.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
I have had the privilege to play with some guys who where highly recognized for their efforts but the guy that I think is underrated is Ben Thorson. I think he did a great job this year leading our offense as a quarterback, playing well all season not throwing any interceptions in the regular season, and leading a game winning 2 minute drive to name a few things.
