Patriots recap of Commanders Loss | Preview for Patriots vs Colts

Written by Karver Jordan

The New England Patriots would lose 20-17 last Sunday and would fall to 2-7 on the season. It was a good game to watch, that is one thing for sure. New England was without DeVante Parker, it was time for the younger guys to step up.

Offense vs Commanders:

Mac Jones completed 24 of his 44 passes for 220 yards with a touchdown and an interception. The numbers were okay, not great but not horrible. DeMario Douglas and Rhamondre Stevenson stepped up big time in this game, Douglas the Sixth Round Rookie out of Liberty had five receptions for 55 yards. Those are some good numbers for Douglas, the future is bright with Demario Douglas in the slot.  Rhamondre Stevenson the young running back had himself a game, Nine carries for 87 yards and touchdown. Stevenson has been struggling due to bad offensive line play, he didn’t struggle on his long touchdown run.  Hunter Henry showed up in the red zone, making a diving grab for the Touchdown. The Veteran tight end has been solid all season long.

Defense vs Commanders:

The New England Patriots defense wasn’t very good vs the High-Powered Commanders Offense.  Sam Howell, the Commanders quarterback, completed 29 of his 45 passes for 325 yards with a touchdown and an interception. The Patriots secondary wasn’t very good in this game, Besides from Kyle Dugger and Jabrill Peppers the veteran safety duo. Ja’Whaun Bentley the veteran linebacker had himself a game, 13 total tackles and two sacks. Bentley is a player the Patriots need to build around. This New England defense will need to focus on tackling more, lots of missed tackles from this young team.

Patriots vs Colts Preview

The 2-7 New England Patriots will face off against the 4-5 Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at 9:30 AM EST. Both teams will be headed to Germany this week.

Patriots Offense:

New Englands Offense will need to be on top notch vs the Colts, if New England wants to win get the ball to your playmakers. Demario “Pop” Douglas and Rhamondre Stevenson have been playmakers all season long. Mac Jones will need to be calm and cool in the pocket if they want to win this week. JuJu Smith-Schuster is going to need to step up quickly before the Patriots kick the tires on him. The Offensive Line will need to hold up this week, it seems like if the Offensive Line is playing horrible the whole Offense is horrible.

Patriots Defense:

New Englands Defense is going to need to lean on guys like Jabrill Peppers, Kyle Dugger, and Ja’Whaun Bentley if they want to win this game. The Patriots need to be better at tackling, loads of missed tackles. The whole defensive line has been playing really good, that’s another bright spot on this young team. The main goal this week is shutting down Gardner Minshew and forcing him to make bad throws. New England has a chance of winning this week vs this banged up Colts team.

Karver’s Final Thoughts:

The Patriots will need to be playing their best football vs the Colts offense and defense, it’s gotten tough to watch the Patriots however, I know this team is young and developing. The future is bright with this team, some key changes can change this team right back into a competitor. Let’s go get a win in Germany.
