Player Summary:
5-year letterman, 3-year starter who has played in 40 career games and has 33 starts under his belt. Has an athletic build of a body. A dual threat QB that moves well within the pocket, has good vision, keeps eyes down field to make throws. Has solid arm strength, does a good job completing throws outside of the numbers from the opposite side of the field. Can throw receivers open, gives runners an opportunity to create yards after catch. Uses legs to escape pressure when needed, gets to the edge, moving defenders out of position for easy throws. Displays solid ability making defenders miss at point of attack on designed QB runs or when flushed out of the pocket. Does well to extend plays within the pocket, elusive runner once outside the pocket while avoiding tackles in the open field. Lacks ability to see defenders when coming into the throwing lane, has the tendency to throw into traffic when pressured and forced out of the pocket. Displays below-average play recognition, failing to see incoming blitzes, not adjusting to added defenders at the LOS, getting easily flushed out instead of stepping up into the pocket, resulting in unnecessary sacks for loss vs throwing the ball away. Does not make accurate throws outside of the pocket-balls are low, high, or thrown into double coverage. Has the tendency of staring down his receivers causing tighter windows to throw into, resulting in interceptions or incompletions.
Scheme Fit:
Spread Offense with read option.
Power Statement:
An athletic dual threat quarterback with solid arm strength and mobility who can move the pocket with his legs.
