Player Summary:

Xavier Restrepo is a 4th year senior at the University of Miami and is off to a fast start in 2023 with 54 catches for 600 yards, averaging 11.1 ypc with 4 TDs in 7 games so far this season. Restrepo shows good release off LOS vs Off-Man and Bail coverage, he shows good stem ability off the line to create leverage as well. Overall good manipulation at release points to get opponents off balance, and uses subtle head movement and footwork. Shows good catching ability overall, and although he has the tendency to body catch, he shows reliability as a pass catcher. Very good tracking ability downfield and plays with good body control to adjust as well as get feet down around the sideline. Possesses very good awareness vs Zone, understands where voids are very well. Solid YAC ability as he possesses solid contact balance can roll off poor tackles and shows good vision to follow blocks after catch. Restrepo’s biggest weakness is his size, he has overall adequate height & wingspan which limits his ability to play on the outside as he does not have the ability to play above the rim and go up and get the 50/50 throws outside his frame. Overall average separation quickness at release points, will struggle to create separation in press vs natural Man corners. Restrepo has average speed as well which limits his ability to stretch the field vertically downfield and outrun defenders after the catch, average lateral/one-cut agility after the catch as well. Due to his size, Restrepo is an average run blocker, unable to sustain blocks that well.

Scheme Fit:

Slot in a West Coast spread offensive scheme.

Power Statement:

Xavier Restrepo will be designated to the slot at the next level due to his size and inability to play bigger than his frame, but I believe with his abilities as a receiver between the hashes along with his IQ, he has a chance to stick around the league for an extended period of time and even provide valuable contributions with teams along the way.
