Player Summary:
4th year JR and 1 yr full-time starter at TE where he played inline and in the slot in the pass-heavy offense of FLIN with a gap and zone blocking scheme. Transferred to ALAU prior to the 2023 season. He possesses solid height with marginal weight and solid speed with a lean build. He is an average athlete showing a combination of good balance and average COD, acceleration, explosiveness, lateral quickness, and agility with average play speed. He displays solid FBI as he reads the coverage and finds the soft spot in the zone while showing average hip fluidity as he breaks off his stem. He displays solid hands as he possesses solid manual dexterity that enables him to make the catch with his hands away from his body. He exhibits good contact balance as he keeps his feet moving on contact and can break tackles from LB with subpar explosiveness and form tackling ability. He displays above-average body control as he adjusts his body when he attempts to make the catch on passes thrown low. He is average in contested catch situations as he uses his body to shield off Nickel DB with subpar ball skills before making the catch. He does a solid job of working his way back to the QB on broken plays. He is an average run blocker as he displays decent UOH in his punch, placement, and timing while maintaining his block against DB with ordinary size and play strength. He possesses solid competitive toughness as he improves his play while in the red zone and on later downs. Lack of quality play speed prevents him from separating against SAF with good backpedal and FBI while off-man. Ordinary play strength enables EDGE and LB with good UOH and length to quickly disengage while run blocking and in pass pro. Lack of quality AA prevents him from gaining significant YAC consistently.
Scheme Fit:
Hybrid TE due to his aggressiveness and solid ability to block DB and willingness to block DL while displaying solid hands in the passing game.
Power Statement:
Intelligent, tough player who is reliable as a receiver and is an aggressive blocker. Lack of quality play speed and AA limit his ability to separate against off-man consistently and gain significant YAC.
