Patriots recap after a close loss to the Raiders 21-17

Patriots looking to bounce back vs Las Vegas Raiders
Patriots recap after a close loss to the Raiders 21-17

Written by Karver Jordan

The New England Patriots would play a solid game vs the Las Vegas Raiders, however they couldn’t get it done. The Offense actually showed life, the Defense played really good at times and horrendously bad at times. The Patriots would fall (1-5) on the season after the hard fought battle.

Patriots Offense shows life

The New England Patriots have been really bad offensively but they showed a spark of life during the game. Mac Jones completed 24 of his 33 passes for 200 yards, Jones had a terrible interception in this game. There were no excuses for the third year QB on this throw, it was straight up horrendous. Mac Jones favorite target of the day was Kendrick Bourne, the veteran wideout recorded 10 receptions for 89 yards – Bourne showed he fits in this offensive scheme. The two headed monster at the running back position showed up in this game, both running backs got an equal share of carries. Rhamondre Stevenson had ten carries for 46 yards and a touchdown, Ezekiel Elliott had seven carries for 34 yards and a touchdown. New England’s rushing attack has been stagnant most of the season due to bad offensive line play but in the matchup vs the Raiders it showed up finally. Now this Patriots offense will face off against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

Jakobi Meyers revenge

The Patriots defense played decently solid vs the Raiders passing attack and rushing game. The only problem New England faced was Jakobi Meyers, the former Patriot wideout had five receptions for 61 yards and a touchdown. New England couldn’t cover the route running specialist. Now the Patriots defense will be in charge of covering Stefon Diggs, the star WR for the Buffalo Bills.

Karver’s Final Thoughts

New England is going into a game that is going to be a tough one, Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills are going to be hard to stop. This defense really needs to step up vs the high powered Buffalo Offense. Mac Jones needs to play his football all season to be able to pull off a win. New England will face off against Buffalo on Sunday at 1:00 PM EST.
