Player Summary:

5th YR SR and 1 yr full-time starter at LB where he aligns as a MIKE and SAM and the 2-4-5, 3-3-5 and 4-2-5 Nickel defense of IAUN. Transferred from VAUN in 2023 where he was a 3 yr full-time starter. He possesses marginal height with ordinary weight, adequate speed, mediocre length with an athletic build. He is a solid athlete showing solid explosiveness, acceleration, lateral quickness and agility with average balance and COD with solid top end play speed. He is good against the run. He shows solid FBI as he reads run/pass. He exhibits good UOH in his punch, placement and timing combined with solid physical toughness as he fights through blocks and disengages from IOL with ordinary length and play strength reaching to the second level and TE with subpar grip strength. He shows solid range and instincts taking good angles while in pursuit against outside runs. He plays with good leverage and exhibits solid explosiveness as he makes the tackle on RB with average size and play speed. Against the pass, he shows above-average ability to cover RB in the flat and carry TE with average play speed up the seam while in man coverage. In zone coverage, he does a solid job of defending underneath routes as TE/WR cross into his zone while reading the QB. After the catch is made, he shows sufficient closing speed in pursuit while exhibiting above-average open field tackling ability as he makes the stop on RB/WR/TE with adequate contact balance preventing a gain of significant yardage. Plays with a solid motor as he plays until the whistle consistently. Subpar pass rusher as he struggles to disengage from IOL with solid size and penetrate the LOS consistently due to lack of quality play strength. Ordinary ball skills due to him being adequate at locating the ball in the air and attempting to time his hands to create a PBU.

Scheme Fit:

ILB in 3-4

Power Statement:

Experienced, tough player who excels against the run. Ordinary play strength combined with below-average size limits his ability as a pass rusher when engaged 1on1 with IOL who possess above-average grip strength.
