Former NDSU star linebacker arrested for beating up a Nebraska basketball player in Lincoln
Nick Deluca the former star football player for North Dakota State was arrested in Nebraska for aggravated assault charges.
The former Bison linebacker reportedly attacked a University of Nebraska basketball player named Rienk Mast.
Mast transferred to Nebraska ahead of the 2023-24 season from Bradley after spending four years there, playing three after taking a redshirt as a freshman. Mast, a 6-foot-10 forward/center from the Netherlands, had developed into a consistent scorer for the Braves and should play a big role for the Cornhuskers in 2023-24 when healthy.
Police believe DeLuca, 28, pushed Mast, 22, off the scooter and punched him several times in the face. Mast went to the hospital with a suspected broken nose.
DeLuca was an All-America linebacker for NDSU who returned to the program last season as a coaching intern.
