Player Summary:
5-year letterman, 3-year starter who has played in 43 career games and has 24 starts under his belt. Has an athletic build of a body. Has good up field burst, quickly closes distance on OL with good angles. Has good play strength when fighting through blocks, and gains leverage utilizing inside shoulder to force OL off-balance with play ending in sacks or TFL. Plays aggressive within and beyond the LOS by displaying a relentless motor, contributing to putting stress on the pocket. Utilizes above-average bend with efficient flexibility to beat his man at the LOS. Displays good play recognition when lined up in 3 technique, moves well enough on stunts to put pressure on the line of scrimmage, identifies and keeps runners in line of sight to pursue and run down from backside. Has good ability dropping back in coverage, gaining depth to spy QB and utilized to blitz the interior to outside edge. Does not have good UOH at point of attack, relies on natural strength, body to gain leverage on OL, would like to see more technique vs elite OL who can counter the bull rush. Does not do well fighting off cut blocks, stops movement of feet, fails to fight off and regain balance after POA. Lacks ability to fight off combo blocks, fails to extend arms and disengage from OL at point of impact.
Scheme Fit:
4-3 defensive front playing in 3, 4, 4i, 5 tech.
Power Statement:
An edge rusher who is quick off the LOS, can play multiple gaps, and wreaks havoc in the backfield.
