Pittman’s Pocket: HBCU True Freshman of Week | Week 8 Top Performers
Week 8 was a huge splash in the SWAC, but a bigger impact was made in the MEAC for some freshman performers.
These true freshmen literally showed out for one of the Greatest Coaches ever in the MEAC, Buddy Pough. Three True Freshman Running backs combined for 300-plus yards rushing.
Josh Shaw #32 had 12 attempts for 95 yards, averaging 8.5 yards per carry and a touchdown.
Jawarn Howell #22 finished with 13 attempts, for 119 yards, racking up 9.2 yards per carry, and scored 3 touchdowns
Tyler Smith #10 had 12 attempts and rumbled for 122 yards averaging 10 yards per carry and a touchdown.
Coach Pough and the Bulldogs have a bright future ahead of them. Especially with this type of early production in a 35-7 victory over Delaware State. Shout out to Coach NaShan Goddard!
