Player Summary:
RS SR and 3-yr full-time starter on the DL where he exhibits good position versatility as he primarily lines up in a 3T and 4i with occasionally at 1T,2i and 5T across multiple fronts for TXBA. He possesses elite height, subpar weight and good speed with an athletic build. He is a solid athlete showing a combination of good balance, solid explosiveness, lateral quickness and agility with average acceleration, COD and play speed. Against the run, he is average. He shows solid quickness off the ball and exhibits above-average UOH as he keeps his hands close and strikes the breastplate of OG with average length. He is stout at the POA as he holds his ground using his good balance, length, leverage and decent play strength as he maintains gap integrity against OG/OT double teams from OL with adequate foot drive. Once he disengages, he locates the RB and makes the tackle in his gap on RB with adequate play speed and burst. He plays with good range against outside runs. Against the pass, he shows solid get-off while playing at a sufficient pad level and exhibits an average pass rush move repertoire consisting mainly of a bull rush or long-arm technique. If he is stalemated at the LOS, he executes a swim move before disengaging from OG with ordinary UOH. He shows decent lateral quickness and agility as he stunts and twists towards the opposite A gap. He plays with a solid motor in pursuit before finishing up with a sack or pressuring the QB to pass the ball earlier than anticipated. He is slow to disengage against the run when facing OG with good size and grip strength allowing RB with good burst and acceleration to get by him. Ordinary instincts prevent him from taking the correct angle consistently when pursuing on OZ runs. Subpar mental toughness and stamina causes his play to decline in the 4th qtr. in close games.
Scheme Fit:
3T in 4-3
Power Statement:
Lengthy, athletic player who is average against the run and pass. His good length and UOH help him maintain gap integrity against double-team blocks. His play declines in the 4th qtr. of close games due to lack of quality mental toughness and stamina.
