Sergio Brown has been charged with killing his Mother. A prosecutor says former NFL player Sergio Brown bought a one-way ticket to Cancun, Mexico, after being the last person seen with his mother before her slaying last month.
Brown, who faces charges of first-degree murder and concealing a homicide, appeared in court for a detention hearing and was denied pretrial release. He will be detained until his next court date, scheduled for Nov. 22.
His mother Myrtle Brown was discovered on September 16th, near a creek about 12 miles from Chicago.
A medical examiner ruled her death a homicide and determined that she had been injured during an assault. She was 73 years old at the time of her death.
Brown fled to Mexico and was extradited on October 7th.
