Player Summary:

Defensive End/Outside Linebacker hybrid with substantial height/weight measurements, above-average length, a muscular, athletic build, and a slender lower half. Started his freshman year at 235 pounds but has added 25 pounds of mass over the last three seasons. His frame might be maxed out, but he would be an ideal candidate to slide inside to the 3T if he could add 10-15 more pounds. Possesses high-level initial quickness, lower-body explosion, and reactionary athleticism at the snap of the ball. Quicker standing up off the edge than with his hand on the ground. Operates with great hip/knee/ankle flexibility, pad level, and leverage at the POA. A heavy striker who uses strong hands and proficient play strength to push the pocket. Flashes a significant bull rush and long arm off the EDGE but lacks high-quality bend and a wide array of pass-rush moves to run the arc consistently. Smooth body control/awareness when executing stunts and twists in the interior. Effective and productive as a run defender. Boasts decent length but extends his arms efficiently to keep offensive linemen from getting within his pads. Utilizes noteworthy physicality and hand use to gain an advantage at the POA. Does not stack and shed as well as anticipated, but his ability should improve if he can continue to grow physically. Intelligent defensive lineman who keeps his shoulders square when scraping down the LOS and works to maintain gap discipline. Displays a constant motor and high energy on every snap. Will retrace his steps when he shoots too far upfield, chases the ball downfield on explosive plays to the third level, and pursues the ball from sideline to sideline when necessary. Moves fluidly in the open field and offers sufficient lateral agility. He also appears confident when he drops into zone coverage with hook/curl to flats responsibilities. His well-rounded skill set will provide position versatility across the front seven at the next level.

Scheme Fit:

Position-versatile prospect. Could potentially see playing time at three different positions: 3 Tech Defensive Tackle, Weakside Defensive End, or a 7 Tech Outside Linebacker. All are dependent on scheme fit.

Power Statement:

Diggs is an intriguing defensive talent with considerable size, valuable position versatility, and notable quickness, play speed & reactionary athleticism. He will likely test well to solidify his draft stock in the offseason.
