The New England Patriots have signed former Gardner-Webb university standout Wide Receiver TJ Luther.  New England met with the 6-foot 189 pound wide out this offseason ahead of the NFL Draft. Luther went undrafted and the New York Jets picked the Gardner-Webb standout as a UDFA. New England picked up the WR after the Jets sent him to waivers. Now TJ Luther is headed to the Patriots practice squad.

2022 College Stats

TJ Luther was outstanding at Gardner-Webb, no one could stop the shifty wide receiver.  In 12 games, Luther recorded 55 receptions for 1,035 yards while adding seven touchdowns. The young wide receiver has an average of 18.8 yards per reception, that is nearly 20 yards a catch. Luther has outstanding blocks for a receiver, he may have a 6-foot frame but that doesn’t stop him from being able to lay the wood.

Karvers thoughts:

I was always a fan of TJ throughout the whole NFL Draft process, the young WR stood out to me due to his speed, route running, and blocking ability. The shifty WR will be a good addition to the Patriots practice squad. I expect to see Luther being brought up for a few games, maybe as a special teams player.
