Spent his true freshman season at Alabama, where he served as the Crimson Tide’s third-string quarterback behind two current NFL starting quarterbacks – Tua Tagovailoa and Mac Jones. Transferred to Maryland during the offseason before the 2020 season. High-quality delivery mechanics and footwork inside and outside the pocket. Flashes a high, quick, and snappy release and delivers the ball with solid anticipation/timing. Appears poised and composed when thrown off schedule. Excels in the play-action game; Exhibits sharp technique, patience, and deception to hold the defense in place. Possesses excellent overall ball accuracy/placement to all three ranges, most notably to the short and deep areas of the field. Noteworthy arm strength & touch on his deep ball and intermediate throws to the boundary. Boasts precise accuracy/placement while on the run and always keeps his eyes downfield to locate open receivers on the scramble drill. A capable runner with proficient straight-line and foot speed to escape pressure and extend plays. Typically a good decision-maker who will take what the defense gives him, but is prone to forcing throws into tight windows in double coverage. Scans the field efficiently and works through progressions consistently but has a tendency to stare down receivers in an attempt to push the ball downfield. Displays fluid, crafty pocket mobility, and sneaky twitch. Sufficient pocket awareness with a decent internal clock when under duress. A small frame puts him at a physical disadvantage. However, he absorbs contact relatively well and is willing to put his body on the line to gain extra yards when necessary. Tough competitor who will hold on to the ball to allow his receivers to create better separation on long-developing routes. Has some ball security concerns when under pressure in a condensed pocket. Must protect the ball better when running in the open field as well.
