Player Summary:
Reese White is a 5th YR SR from Sandy Springs, GA. He was named 2023 Preseason All-Sun Belt third team by the College Football Network and Preseason All-Sun Belt fourth team by Athlon Sports. An experienced and productive RB, White has averaged 40.7 YPG and 5.7 YPA while scoring 25 total TDs in his career at SCCC. White aligns at RB in SCCC’s spread-option offense. He possesses below-average size and weight with a slightly narrower frame through his midsection and lower body. He showcases solid overall athleticism and the ability to run both inside and outside. When running between the tackles, White shows good patience and vision in letting blocks develop. When the hole opens up, he displays good burst and acceleration to hit the hole quickly and get downhill. He is not afraid to lower his shoulder and displays good toughness and physicality on contact. He appears to secure the ball well. He shows good elusiveness to make defenders miss in the open field, solid COD, and the ability to make hard, quick cuts. White has adequate speed to turn the corner on the outside. Long speed is average, and he does not show that he is a home run threat. White does not break many tackles but does a good job of falling forward at the end of his runs. He also does a great job of selling fakes within the offense and plays hard even when he is not carrying the ball. As a pass catcher he runs average routes and is not targeted often. White is a willing blocker but he struggles in pass protection to hold up against bigger and faster defenders. Play strength when blocking is marginal. Durability is a concern at the next level. White has missed seven games over the past two seasons with injury.
Scheme Fit:
Rotational RB in a spread heavy offense
Power Statement:
Well-rounded RB who is undersized but showcases adequate traits to be an effective inside and outside runner. However, play strength and durability are of major concern.
