Player Summary:
Fourth year junior and former HS dual-threat QB out of Palmetto, FL. Has played both I-WR and O-WR spots but has mostly aligned inside for FAU. Talented prospect who could make a lot of money in the slot. Versatile and multi-use player who is also used on motion / sweeps and handoffs. Also, a return man. As a receiver, he is good. Though he had a wide-open drop v. TXNO, otherwise displayed consistent hands and excellent adjustment to the ball – can adjust low and dig poorly thrown passes out of the dirt. Very effective receiver over the MOF where his speed is put to good use, and he is able to work on his own. Runs a deadly wheel route, is able to stick his foot in the ground on posts and corners and be an open target. Is above average after the catch; is able to make defenders miss and get up field for extra yards. Flashes good instincts and on-field awareness; keeps the play alive and stays active for his QB. Displayed good effort in chasing down defenders after an interception return. Is more of a linear route runner – would like to see him prove that he can diversify and create separation instead of relying only on his speed. Marginal blocker who mostly gets in the way of defenders instead of driving them off the ball. Has some upside. Caught three touchdowns v. Purdue and is a high impact player who opposing defenses have to account for.

Power Statement:
LaJohntay has a high ceiling. His deep-play speed, RAC, and versatility are all strong qualities, but his primary strength is his ability to work on his own and get open over the middle of the field. He is a legitimate prospect to watch this season.
