Pittman’s Pocket: The Playing field is becoming even for HBCU football programs

Slowly, the HBCU football programs have begun to even the playing field when it comes to adding talent but can they further it in coaching against FBS competition.
HBCU talent has improved drastically after the phenomenal works of legendary coaching of Rob Broadway and Sam Washington at North Carolina A&T who dominated FBS opponents year after year. Kent State, Charlotte University, and East Carolina back-to-back-to-back years. Before the talent surge of Coach Prime at Jackson State who helped re-vamp HBCU recruiting to where it is today, we are noticing 3-star, and 4-star players starting to lay the foundations at those HBCU programs.
Programs such as Jackson State take on Texas State, NC Central take on UCLA and Texas Southern vs Rice this week. These have became the premier games for these programs. They have to Coach effectively and mistake free to come away a winner. Shedeur Sanders quote was true.
“The only difference between FCS and this level meaning (FBS) is the D-Line get off blocks if you try to scramble up faster”.
That’s exactly correct. Coach Rob and Sam’s philosophy was just controlling the line of scrimmage to allow players like Tarik Cohen and Jeremy Taylor to run wild, when the Aggies defeated Kent State. The trenches are where the game is won. They are doing the right thing for sure!
Conslusion: Don’t look at the name of the coach or players. Just dominate, by our coaching and coaching up your players against FBS competition this Saturday.
