Max Engle the Jersey Shore high school football player that collapsed on the field has passed away at 17
Max Engle was a 17-year-old football player from Jersey Shore in Pennsylvania that was fighting for his life in the hospital. We are saddened to report that Max did not survive. He passed away after collapsing in a football game back on the 8th of September.
There were only 11.4 seconds left in the game between Jersey Shore High School and Selinsgrove High School, when Max Engle collapsed as teams returned to the field after a time-out.
Shortly after, he was air-lifted to Geisinger Medical Center, and succumbed to his injuries.
The coroner is reporting that the cause of death was intracranial hemorrhage resulting from blunt force head trauma. The investigation is ongoing.
His family posted this on their Facebook page:
“The huge outpouring of love of thoughts and prayers have been of great comfort to us during this time. Max has been fighting hard through this week, but he needed to move on to fulfill a greater purpose.”
Please keep the Engle family in your prayers during this tough time.
