Player Summary:
Redshirt Senior from Celina, Texas who recorded 5 INT’s and 15 PD in his senior year at Prosper High School while also lettering in Track and Field. Slim build with elite height, weight paired with good length and adequate AA. Plays with solid lateral quickness, COD, decent foot speed, and below-average acceleration at the cornerback position. Primarily plays off the ball using lateral quickness in zone technique to maintain cushion vs vertical routes and adequately reacts to anything underneath. Solid playing a catch technique to get in trail position slants and drags, his success in these situations depends on how physical he is at the WR’s stem because he has less play speed in most situations. Great ball skills, he is excellent at getting his eyes flipped towards the QB in man coverage and understands how he can use his large frame to win with body position in 50-50 situations. Good vision in space after making INT’s and as a return man, has the ability to make people miss in the open field with a variety of moves. He times the snap well when he is asked to blitz and can read QB body language to get his hands in throwing lanes. Adequate in run support, he understands his gap by playing contain and forcing everything back inside. Counters and sheds WR blocks efficiently using his arm length and lateral quickness to rip away from them. Marginal open field tackler, not a willing tackler displaying below-average effort to bring down ball carriers, he consistently has high leverage and performs weak arm tackles that can be ran through. He is a capable tackler when he goes low attacking the ball carrier below the knee and wrapping up. Marginal playing at the LOS due to losing his leverage early vs shifty releases and is late shooting his hands when he plays jam technique.
Scheme Fit:
Boundary CB in Cover-3 scheme
Power Statement:
Haskins has impressive ball skills and solid coverage skills. At his height and weight the NFL should be intrigued with how he tests, his 373 career special teams snaps help his case to make a roster. He needs to prove he is willing to come up and make tackles with some consistency to impact the run/quick game.
