Player Summary:

An undersized inside linebacker that is starting his second year as a full time starter and first year team captain in a base 3-4 defense where he is utilized as the weak side linebacker that has assignments in run, man and zone coverages. Possesses good AA, twitchy hip movement, quick feet and solid play speed and play strength. Has shown to be more vocal in the middle in the defense as the season progressed and able to make adjustments to pre snap movement. Has good and deep drops in coverage and is able to cover a lot of space in zone. Has good downhill speed and is violent at the POA. Has solid eyes for the backfield and is able to follow read progressions with his good lateral movement. Possesses a wide arrange of effective pass rush moves and is able to shoot running lanes. Displays solid tackling technique using the wrap and roll technique. Able to leverage blocks maintaining outside leverage. Can play well in man coverage against RB, TE and WR, this can be due to his AA and his past of playing CB in high school. There are some concerns with his ability to read RPO plays as he sometimes loses the ball.

Scheme Fit:

Has the ability to play in any defense as an inside linebacker as a 3 down linebacker. Has shown to be effective in all phases of the game.

Power Statement:

An athletic linebacker that has some potential for growth and the ability to find playing time as a rotational player early in career with the potential to earn a starting spot soon.
