USC QB Caleb Williams is willing to stay in school if he does not like the team that picks first

Could we have another Eli Manning situation on our hands?

During an interview on the “10 Questions with Kyle Brandt” podcast, Eli finally revealed why he refused to play for the Chargers, who were then located in San Diego.

“It was my decision having talked with my agent, coaches, [general managers] and owners,” Manning said. “Going through the draft process, I was just worried about the Chargers organization at the time. I felt it was the right decision and I had a little pull. I quietly tried to say ‘Hey, please don’t draft me, it can be our secret,’ and they didn’t keep the secret part very well.”

Well, USC star QB Caleb Williams is willing to stay in school if he doesn’t want to play for the team with the first pick in the draft.

Caleb’s father, Carl Williams said that his son could stay in USC for an extra year if he doesn’t like the environment of the team holding the #1 pick in the 2024 Draft, in the latest article from GQ Magazine.

“The funky thing about the NFL draft process is, he’d almost be better off not being drafted than being drafted first.”

“The system is completely backwards. The way the system is constructed, you go to the worst possible situation. The worst possible team, the worst organization in the league — because of their desire for parity — gets the first pick. So it’s the gift and the curse.”

“So if there’s not a good situation, the truth is, he can come back to school.”

The crazy thing is Williams is not hurting for money either. His NIL valuation is third out of all NCAA football players only behind Shedeur Sanders and Arch Manning the nephew of Eli.

Do you think Williams could turn the Cardinals franchise around? At this point it sure sounds like the Cardinals are trying to do everything they can to lose. They have not even named a starting quarterback yet. Ouch!
