Player Summary:
6’4”, 281-pound Defensive End with an athletic build, powerful upper half, and fluid lower half. Began his college career weighing 245; Gained 35+ pounds since 2018. Offers noteworthy height but could benefit from adding 10-15 pounds of mass to bulk up for the next level. Played in 48 games in four seasons at Missouri before transferring to Arkansas for the 2023 season. Lined up in multiple spots across the defensive line at Missouri; Played standup Defensive End in Missouri’s 4-2-5 scheme and saw some action as a 3-tech Defensive Tackle. Boasts proficient initial quickness and get-off at the LOS. Transfers power efficiently from his lower half through his hands. Strong striker with great physicality to control the POA. Uses an effective long arm and bull rush to create congestion in the backfield. Flashes intriguing straight-line and burst-to-close in pursuit of the quarterback. Secure tackler once he gets his arms around the ball carrier. Adequate lower-body flexibility and bend to run the arc against poor-leveraged offensive tackles. Displays good effort to chase down plays from the backside but turns down his motor when the ball gets past the LOS. Has a limited ceiling as a pass rusher due to a lack of pass-rush moves and technique. Sufficient use of hands off the ball but struggles to shed blockers once they’re inside his frame. Possesses decent read & react ability, recognition, and block awareness but doesn’t prioritize gap discipline in the run game. Has some holes in his game that lead to concern about his upside as an every-down Defensive End. A permanent move to the 3-tech spot might allow defensive coordinators to get the most out of his skill set. Could transition into a twitchy DT who can create havoc in the interior as a pass rusher and run defender.
Scheme Fit:
3-4 Defensive End or 4-3 3-Tech Defensive Tackle
Power Statement:
Jeffcoat is strong, athletic defensive lineman who exhibits quality play strength, power rush ability, and burst-to-QB. He is a bit of a positional tweener and doesn’t offer much value as a speed rusher off the edge.
