What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

My cousin Daniel. I would watch him play when I was younger, and I decided why not give it a try.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

Probably my junior year of high school when we beat Grayson High. It was a big rivalry game and it was probably the most packed game in our high school history. That was the first time I’ve seen a crowd like that.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

Probably my sister, she came from Nigeria two years ago with nothing, and she’s been working so hard to the point where she can take care of herself.

What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?

I’m looking forward to finishing business with my team this last time. We came up short two years in a row, and I thinks it’s time we finish.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Von Miller would be the answer. I admire his game a lot. I would want to learn from him as much as possible.

What should we know about Solomon Zubairu the person?

That I am a dependable and reliable person. I pride myself on that.

What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?

I don’t have a favorite. I make sure that I can play at a very high level in any scheme. We run a 3-3-5 here at Mercer and sometimes I’m in a 5, a 4i, 6i, wide 9. I just make sure that it doesn’t change my fundamentals.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

Challenges are a part of life. Especially as a man. I always tell myself to attack challenges head on because that’s the only way. You can go around challenges only through them, and this goes for football and life.

What would a team get in a player like you?

They would get a player that is tough, smart, fast, reliable, and someone that knows how to do his job well.

What stands out about your film the most?

Versatility. If watch my film you see me doing a lot more than just playing a 5 tech. And this season coach Taylor has great plans to expand on that.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

Carter Peevy our QB. I think people forget the performance that he put on as a freshman, and he’s only gotten a lot better since then.
