Patriots sign Veteran tight end Pharaoh Brown to practice squad

The New England Patriots preseason has come and gone, it is time for some regular-season football. Multiple players were released/waived by all the NFL teams, New England would fill up their practice squad with recently released players who were on the roster before waivers. There is one player who signed with New England today to join the practice squad and that is veteran tight end Pharaoh Brown. Here are some key things you should know about the Six-year vet.

Age: 29
Height and weight: 6-foot-5 246 pounds
Years in NFL: Six
College: Oregon
Professional career:
Over the course of six-year career Pharaoh Brown has bounced around a few teams, those being the Raiders, Browns, Texans, and the Colts. The 6-foot-5 tight end recorded 51 receptions for 478 yards and two touchdowns. Brown has been used mostly as a blocking tight end and the Patriots needed a blocking TE pretty badly. Goal Line situations may cause Brown to run routes due to his size and ability to create a height disadvantage for the defense.
Karver’s thoughts:
The veteran tight end has been signed to the practice squad and I expect Brown to be a player who gets moved up onto the 53-man roster due to offensive game plans/schemes. The former Texan reunites with Bill O’Brien, expect Pharaoh Brown to see a good amount of game time this season.
